Bi-Directional Antennas for 5 GHz Communication Systems
Today, the Wi-Fi communication systems are increasingly used in public transportation sector. Such systems have to provide a "seamless" radio connection between a mobile vehicle (train, bus, etc.) and base stations located along the routes.

These communication systems consists of a base station mounted on a mobile vehicle with an antenna radiating along the direction of the vehicle and a series of base stations along the routes. These base stations are required to have at least two antennas, one of which is pointed in the direction of the vehicle, and the other in the opposite direction, for a "seamless" connection. Connecting several antennas to a base station also requires the use of an additional power divider and additional microwave cables.

Radio Gigabit Systems has developed a special RGA-P5-Bi series of bi-directional antennas which simultaneously radiate into both half-spaces and make the use of multiple base station antennas, a power divider and microwave cables obsolete. Such a bi-directional antenna can be connected straight to the base station. The use of RGA-P5-Bi series antennas can significantly reduce the deployment cost of wireless communication systems.

Bidirectional Antenna Line:
The line of bi-directional antennas:
- RGA-P5-Bi-14 - a compact solution for small distances with a gain of 14 dBi in both half-spaces;
- RGA-P5-Bi-20-1 - a solution for large distances with a gain of 20 dBi in both half-spaces;
- RGA-P5-Bi-20-2 - a dual bi-directional antenna for long distances with a gain of each antenna of 20 dBi in both half-spaces.
